Long time .. No Blogging

Very sorry about the HUUUUGE gap I've left in my blog!
It's been such a busy time.
First off I proudly graduated University with First Class Honours, making the time and effort put in the most worthwhile thing I have done :)

After University I decided to give myself some time to relax and consider what to do with myself next.. and so I started working part time just to keep an income and spent time at concerts, weekends away and getting back to the art I love. The sort that is inspired by my hobbies and interests. I found I absolutely LOVE papercutting, it has become my favourite way to pass the time :D also a good old pencil sketch has been a regular thing, with drawing of friends and favourite places sneaking up on my instagram regularly!

And so that's about all I've been doing with my time, it's been absolute bliss to create for the love of it without deadlines and criteria to meet (having said that I adored my course and miss it!) it's also been wonderful to share the artwork with friends and I'm amazed how grateful people are to have a drawing :)

The last piece of news it the one I'm most excited about... I have booked a 2 month trek around America that I start in 4 weeks!! I can not explain how exciting this is! I have never done anything like it and there is so much I'll be able to do! I'm hoping some sights will inspire beautiful artworks.. if not it'll will have been a damn good sight to see anyway :)

So after that brief update I will once again make a pact to keep up blogging more regularly haha.. I'm sure there will be tales to tell in a few months after 33 States in 64 days!

Apricot Dress Design Competition

After several months of waiting for my winning dress design to go into production, here it is!!
I was sent the first one last week and I'm so pleased with the final outcome, can't wait for a night out to wear it. :)

New Designers 2012

The last week of June I spent in London exhibiting with 11 other graduates from my course. The University of Bolton stand was successful and we all enjoyed it. It was such a good experience for meeting new people,  both students and professionals. It was also great reference for future trade shows I may embark upon on my own. Simple things such as transport, packaging and being on your feet all day will all get easier with experience!

This was a truly exciting week and I look forward to attending again as a visitor in future as I did last year. It will also be interesting to see how connections made here will develop.

Sorry it's been a while I have been so busy working on my final degree show! But I can now proudly show you the results :)

As you can see I have developed two seperate collections that come together in their final representation of Finding Magic in Nature. I drew inspiration from literature and myths and created my own magical creatures. These were then created through bead and stitch on the vintage inspired ball gown and they were adapted to create coordinating contemporary digital designs.

Here is a glimpse of my current designs, I am working on digital artwork to work as supporting work to an embroidered ball gown. These two elements together will be the basis of my final show. I think the colour and pattern in this piece works really well as a contemporary design and could be printed onto various pieces.

British Craft Trade Fair

This is the University of Bolton's stand at the British Craft Trade Fair this weekend. the majority of students I exhibited with are a group of very talented second years and I felt our work created an impressive body of work. My own pieces on display were four beaded clutch bags that can be seen in the third photograph. I hope everyone had a good show!
